Mama Bear and Learning to Love Yourself

I got this in an email from a woman that I consider my Mother of Choice. She's like a Mama Bear who is ferocious to those who treat her cubs wrongly and is all cuddly and loving to those she cares for. Sure, when it's time to learn something she sure does know how to pack a wallop to bring us back to reality and learn that godforsaken lesson! Overall, I find myself really lucky to have her in my life.

Here's a shout out to My Mama Bear! I read this and it reminded me of YOU for I believe we have many soul mates that are in our life who cross our path so we may learn from each other. Then there are those Certain Soul MateS that are Special. To me, one of those is Mama Bear.

I MISS YOU!!!

As for the email that was sent, it read:

I just had a call from a Charity asking me to donate some of my clothes to the starving people throughout the world. I said, "You're joking! Anybody who fits into my clothes isn't starving."

Boy, isn't that the truth!

The great thing about Mama Bear is that she's one of those women that loves unconditionally. You know how you hear a mother tell her daughter that she is beautiful inside and out and all those fuzzy things. Yep, that's definitely something that I only ever experienced by watching tv or hearing it said to others. My, oh so sweet, mother was full of negativity, narcissism, and the whole "Keeping up with the Joneses" syndromes that it's no wonder my self-esteem was crap.
No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.
Eleanor Roosevelt
BUT! This is not a sob story just a comparison from the Biological Mother and the Mother of Choice. See, Mama Bear makes me laugh while Mother Dearest makes me steel myself for whatever vitriolic tripe she chooses to spew for the day.

In the end I am grateful to her for giving birth to me and no matter how much venom she may be full of I am extremely grateful for the chance to get to know the wondrous Mama Bear.
For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others; for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone.
Audrey Hepburn
So, in the end, thanks Mother Dearest for this opportunity to learn that what society may deem as the so-called norm for beauty I've learned from those Family of Choice Members that it's who I am and what I do with my life that matters above all and not what I look like. If I so happen to be not only a beauty inside my skin but also aesthetically pleasing on the outside as well, that's simply just a bonus!

To all those who are beautiful inside and out, have a great day!
